REXBURG – It is an exciting time for the city of Rexburg. The city is moving forward to build a $5.3 million swimming pool and park. In East Idaho we have needed a decent swimming pool, and as a bonus they will have an amazing park too.

“I think it’s important for Rexburg to get a pool. We don’t have a way to teach kids how to swim. Mothers take their children to Idaho Falls, to Pocatello, to Ashton,” said Mayor Richard Woodland.

The city has been trying to build a new swimming pool ever since they got rid of the old Porter Park pool two decades ago. It was a popular swimming spot.

Riverside Park which will be the name of this new park will have basketball courts, an indoor swimming pool, and baseball diamonds.

The pool is expected to be opened by Memorial Day weekend 2011.
